Don't die for your loves ones... live for them

Don't die for your loves ones... live for them

One of my favorite Netflix shows is the Korean show called "Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha" which stars Kim Seon-ho and Shin Min-a.

I loved that show for a variety of reasons: it was a light and a feel-good show that made me laugh, made me cry and it taught me valuable lessons in life. As a show that came out in 2021, Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha was a sure-fire hit especially during the height of the global pandemic when we needed a little bit of hope, a little bit of joy and a little bit of inspiration to help us go through all of that madness.

Anyway, one of the striking scenes to me was when Shin Min-a was talking about how the death of her mom affected her whole life and to an extent, made her feel alone and empty growing up. It left a significant hole in her life that she even said:

"The best thing a parent can do for their child is staying healthy.”

Those words shook me to my very core as a parent of two kids.

Because in this world where we are all busy trying to make a living, we often neglect our health.

Little do we know or often realize how important our health and therefore our presence impacts people's lives especially family, friends and those people who love us.

In our society, we have been accustomed to think that there is no greater love than to lay down one's life for one's friends.

And it's absolutely true - I don't disagree. Jesus already did this and I'm saying this as a devout Catholic.

And because Jesus has already made the ultimate sacrifice in which only He can do, then maybe you're wondering - what can I do for my loved ones in return?

The answer to that is to try our best to live longer for them. And that means taking care of yourself, being healthy and living a balanced life so you can be present for them and be there for them for as long as you could.

Because as ordinary people, the best thing we can do for our loved ones is to be healthy, stay alive and be present for them.

In short, don't die for your loved ones... live for them.

May you find your inspiration

Chris
